Clinical Pilates Instruction

Pilates is a form of exercise which was developed by Joseph Pilates over 60 years ago
It is described as a mind – body centred technique that emphasises the importance of beginning movement from a central core of stability.
He believed that injuries occur due to imbalances present in the body gained from incorrect movement . These incorrect movements and postures can create weaknesses in areas of the body .This causes the body to overcompensate in other areas which can lead to injury or pain.
As Physiotherapists we use a modified Pilates approach, this means that all of the exercises used have been adapted by Physiotherapists based on scientific research and clinical reasoning to specifically treat and rehabilitate, training core stability, increasing flexibility, endurance and strength.
Modified Pilates has been proven to help alleviate chronic neck and back pain, prevent the recurrence of injuries and promote postural and body awareness.
We currently offer clinical pilates here at the clinic on a one to one basis.
Each session is tailored to your needs and will allow a steady progression.
One of our Physiotherapists is currently training to become an Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute certified instructor and will be teaching group sessions for a wide range of individuals.
From Pre – and Post natal classes to high end sport specific classes.
